Dear Mr. Wiggins…
Are
you prepared to post this sign in front of every one of the 3,800 homes
in the Crescent Hills development that you plan to build next door to
the Bracken Bat Preserve?
Dear GEAA members and friends,
Brad Galo, owner of the 1,500 acres planned for development next door to the Bracken Bat Preserve, is entertaining an offer to sell the property to Stratford Land. If this happens, we expect that Stratford will proceed to get permits from the City of San Antonio (they already have a contract for water and sewer service from San Antonio Water System) and develop the property. We
have learned that Mr. Galo offered the parcel to Stratford at a price
vastly reduced from the price he was asking for from parties interested
in permanently protecting the property.
We
need your help now to stop the sale of this property so that it might
be preserved forever to protect the Edwards Aquifer and the Bracken
bats. There are two things that you can do to protect two of San Antonio’s irreplaceable resources:

or write to Mr. Phillip Wiggins, CEO and Founder of the Stratford Land,
to let him know your reasons for opposing development of the Crescent
Hills Tract.

· Call or write to State Senator Donna Campbell (830-626-0065) and Mayor Julian Castro (210-207-8998)
requesting that they step up to provide the leadership that will be
needed to permanently preserve this important site.
If you are a teacher, or a retired teacher, you have additional clout. The Teachers Retirement System of Texas is a major investor in Stratford Land. Please
contact them to let them know that you do not approve of your funds
being invested in the destruction of the world’s largest colony of
mammals and one of the world’s most prolific aquifers.
Thank you in advance for taking action today to stop the development of Crescent Hills. We
are sure that the 3,800 families who might otherwise unwittingly buy
those homes, the mama Mexican free-tailed bats, and everyone who drinks
and plays in the waters of the Edwards will thank you, too.
